AECP - For the Guys
So these cards are fairly simple and completely out of my norm but that's the point when you take a new class, to stretch you out side of your comfort zone.
Well this one sure did. I didn't have many masculine products when I worked on these cards and to be honest the second card(the hello card ) was me just messing around with stamping, I didn't like it at the time but felt I needed to see it through and now I am happy I did
I pulled out some of my distress oxides the Trigonometry stamp set and acrylic block and just went to town stamping different combinations which you can see in the picture below. I did have a vague idea of what I wanted to see but really I just wanted to play, have fun and see what came.
I used Neehna solar white cardstock for all the stamping
I really liked how the open triangle background tuned out with the multiple colors. To me it screamed early 90’s lol so I new I wanted to use that for a birthday card.
Love love love distress oxide because they layer up so awesome
One I was done stamping the panels i decided to get out my Finetec paints and do some splattering. I used the black shimmer as well as gold and blue to tie it all together.
Both cards are A2 5½ x 4¼ and both stamped panels have been layered twice on layers of cardstock. The first card which is on the left is layered on blue 5¼ x4 and black cardstock measuring 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 and the stamped panel measures 5 x 3¾ . For the birthday Card I die cut the main panel using the stitched rectangle dies from Lawn fawn. I also die cut a smaller rectangle from vellum which I used to anchor the sentiment.
The hello card on the right has the same measurements just different colored cardstock. I adhered the some of the panels flat to each card base and then popped up the others with foam tape for extra pop.
For the sentiment I used Altenew Happy Birthday and Hello dies. I cut both sentiments out numerous times which would allow me to stack the dies for extra dimension. The hello I off set just a touch so the black would peek through from behind the green and add a little more pop.
To finish each of the cards off I finally used some of my Nuvo drops. Lets be honest here I have had them in my stash for a long time now and have never had the courage to use them as every time I did i managed to smear the drops and ruin cards lol.. Finally it worked out and I couldn't be happier.
For the hello card I also cut a strip of black cardstock to fit across the card and added tonic shimmer pen to it for that extra little something. I still not sure about this card but a male in my life thought it was cool so hey, I guess I did my job lol All the products I used are linked below
Hope liked my cards and found some inspiration to step out of your comfort zone and play. I really liked all the techniques I learned in the class and will hopefully have more masculine cards to come soon .
I would love to hear from you so please feel free to leave a comment.
Have a beautiful day and Thank you for stopping by!
