Card in Envy Challenge: On the Beach

I knew immediately what I wanted to do for this weeks theme as I had this wonderful die set from MFT just itching to be used. I had the beach scene builder for some time and had yet to create with it..EEK like most things in my stash to be honest, who else can relate to this ? lol

So I started out initially by inking up some Bristol cardstock with a few shades of blue distress oxides which consisted of salty ocean, mermaid lagoon and possibly peacock feather  but that part got die cut away.  I splattered the inked panel with water and set it a side to dry.

I also inked up two 4½ x 5½ Bristol  panels for the background, using my distress oxides to make the sunset for the the card, I used carved pumpkin, picked raspberry and squeezed lemonade.. ( LOVE LOVE LOVE  this color combo now)   Since I was already inky I decided to ink up some scraps of paper with Just Green ink from Altenew for my palm trees,

While that was drying  I inked up some scrap cardstock with versa mark sticky ink and then added my dirty sand embossing powder and heat set that. ( This embossing powder is so cool and really has a fun texture of sand.

Once the distress panel was completely dry and the embossed panel had cooled down I ran them through my die cutting machine using the MFT scene builder set, I loved that I got two cards out the small panels I had created.

While I had my machine out I die cut the palms for the tree as well as the trunk of the palm tree. For the trunk I die cut it twice once with regular white card stock and the second with some actual wood veneer paper I had from a previous card kit from MFT.  I really like the extra something this added to the palm trees.   I also die cut a circle out from Bristol paper as well, which I later inked up with squeezed lemonade and carved pumpkin.

I decided for one of the cards I would go in and try to add some sun rays in using Perfect pearl shimmer and the MFT sun burst stencil,  You cant really tell from the picture but up close it looks really cool.

Now it was time to assemble,as i was laying out all my elements for the card and starting to attach the water and sand , I noticed that the scenes still felt a bit empty, so I decided to pull out the June ( I believe ) card kit stamps from hero art and added in some palm trees to the background as well as birds flying in the sky and a sale boat. I stamped all these images in my black versa fine ink.  For the sentiment I heat embossed in white on to the ocean using a sentiment from the Polynesian Paradise set.

My card bases varied a bit for each card.

The biggest card measured  which is the fist one you see bellow  measures at 6¼ x 5 inches. For this card I went a little more 3D and popped up extra palm leafs and the pink shimmer frame which was die cut from an Avery Elle die set.

The second card measures just slightly different at 5¾ x 4½, for this version I kept it much more simple and flat only popping up the main image and the palm tree using the 3m foam tape which is very thin.  I have to say I am really loving these cards and boy does it make me want to travel someplace with these types of beaches lol.

I hope you found some inspiration in my cards and come on over to the Cards in Envy blog and play along with us.

Please feel free to leave a comment let me know what you think and if you would like to see something different.

Have a Beautiful week everyone.
