Cards in Envy Challenge- Birthday Party Time

As a card maker that sells cards from time to time Birthday cards are one of my staples that I sell a lot of but I don't always get to to fun and bold cards so that what I wanted to do with this challenge. I had the MFT Celebrate balloon die just sitting in my stash waiting to be used and this idea popped into my head,  I have linked to all the awesome products I have used down below.

To start off the card base is the standard 5½ x 4¼  I have three layers – white is 5¼ x 4 , silver is slightly over 5 x 3 15/16 and the distressed panel is 3¾ x 5

So I started with the background as per usual – this gave me some time to play and get inky which i really been missing.

I pulled out some glossy cards paper from Ranger which was 8½ x11 and cut it down to two panels  5½ x 4¼ panels  from there I pulled out my distress oxides and my for favorite colors, Warn Lipstick, peacock feather, wilted violet and twisted citron.

I did two attempts – first attempt was to smooch all the colors on my glass matt at once  spritz with water and drag/press the paper into the ink

The second attempt I did the same thing except one color at a time to control the blending of colors.

With this method I dried it with my head tool between each color.

Once the panels were finished and dried completely I went over it with the distress glaze to bring the color out and seal it. I wiped away the excess with a soft cloth.  I took the l leftover glossy paper and added splotches of color to it as I knew I wanted to die cut the balloons from this and the second distressed panel.

I die cute the celebrate bubble from silver card glitter paper and white card stock as I wanted to slightly off set the silver on top of the white.

I layered the distress panel on to the same silver glitter paper using some thing foam tape, I then adhered that on top of white cardstock and then onto the base of the card. I added the celebrate panel that offset in white on to the fun distressed panel also using some thin adhesive. For finishing touches I added the die cut balloons onto to the  celebrate panel, weaving them in between the letters. (the strings of the balloons with black soot oxide ink)

I really had a lot of fun making this card, I love how bold and bright it turned out to be and how fast it came together. I really hope you found inspiration in the card and I would love to hear what you thought. Thanks for taking time to check out my little blog and hope you come on over to Cards in Envy and play along.

Have a beautiful and colorful week
