Cards In Envy Challenge: Fruits of Your Labour
I really like these challenges because it makes me really look at what I have in my stash and use it. If you’re like me you buy stamps and then forget what you actually have in your stash lol.. oh crafters problems eh lol.
Anyways I found the “bushel of thanks” set and the “good apple stamp” and die set in my stash so I decided these would be perfect for this challenge.
( sadly the good apple set is retired now- that's how long I have had it in my stash and did nothing with it -eek)
I stamped out the images from from the bushel of thanks onto some Neehna solar white 110lb cardstock using copic friendly black ink.
Once everything was stamped I went in and used my copic markers to color the apples. I really forgot how much I loved coloring with these markers.. I really like how the apples turned out (even better up close) For the red apples I used R89,29,27,24 and for the green I used G 28,9,6,5 and yellow I completely totally forgot to write down the colors. Once I finished all the coloring I stamped out the images again this time on wood veneer paper that came in a card kit from Mft. I fussy cut that out and added it on top of the barrels of the colored images.
I also stamped out the chalk board on to some black heavy weight cardstock using vers mark clear ink and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder.
Once I had the chalk board and chalk stamped and heat embossed I fussy cut it out as I wanted a clean and close cut with no borders. I then trimmed down my stamp from the bushel of thanks set to fit on to the chalk board nicely. I pulled out my misti and lined it up and stamped with versa mark and again heat embossed it with white powder. I also made sure to leave some of the anit static powder on the chalk board to add to the effect.
From there it was time to create the card base
I created a side folding A2 card base from black heavy weight card stock. I then pulled out some of my 12x12 Doodle bug pattern paper called Back to School.
I cut down several layers for this card, the first was the black checker paper which was just slightly smaller than 4¼ x 5½, the red layer was 3 7/8 x 5 1/8, for the strip I cut down some heavy weight card stock measuring 2 1/8 x 5 and the pattern paper measuring 2 x4 7/8
for the inside I just took some of the left over paper and trimmed it down to fit inside nicely and then added the second barrel of apples. I also stamped another sentiment from the barrel of thanks set just to finish it off. I adhered the first layers to the card flat, the strip got layered with a bit of fun foam as well as the chalk board and barrel of apples.
I am going to be making more of these cards as I really loved how it turned out.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and check out blog.
