Cards in Envy - One layer Cards : Mother's Day
I have been pretty busy making mother’s day cards for a client and I had to do 50 of them so I new I needed to keep it fairly simple, so my card for the challenge is show casing one of the mother’s day sets I made using Altenew Beautiful day stamp sets.
As per usual my card measures 5½ x 4¼ the card base is created from Rose Chintz pink its very pretty.
The focus is on the beautiful flower layering that Altenew is known for.
I started out with stamping the main flower image on to some Neehna Solar white cardstock, using the jet black ink from Altenew, and then went over the first layer of the stamp with blush ink, also from altenew. (Sorry this pic is a few steps a head forgot to take a picture earlier on)
I also stamped the images again on 65lb recollections paper, which I end up fussy cutting out to create mask for the cards, which you can see below.
I did this because I find masking paper never sticks well for me so instead I just adhered the masking with repositionable adhesive, for me this worked like a charm. Above you can see the masks in action as I used my misti to stamp the leaf imagines. ( This card used a lot of masking)
I went between using my misti and the acrylic blocks for the stamping as some times it was just easier to line up the imagines with the block. This was the second layer of the flower image which was inked up using Rouge ( the ink set was the sunset red collection from Altenew)
For the third layer of the flower I used Velvet, and for the leafs i used just green and Hunter green both of which are from the Altenew Green Meadows collection.
Before I finished up the cards with a sentiment I die cut the panels with the wonky stitched rectangle dies from My Favorite things. ( I do not know why I didn't stamp the sentiment on before this step- I was a bit out of it at this point.) I went back in with a sentiment from an older Wplus9 set.
I adhered the panel down flat to the base which I cut and scored by hand also( all 50) and finished it up with just a little gem in the middle of the flower.
I have to say I am just loving all things Altenew, the inks are so smooth and beautiful and the stamps are so elegant and easy to use.
I hope you liked the card and I apologize for the scattered-ness of the steps this time.
I thank you for stopping by and would love to hear from you and be sure to head on over to Cards in Envy to play along I look forward to seeing what you all create.
Have a beautiful week a head and Happy Mother’s Day
