Cards in Envy - Get Negtive

I love love love this theme as it made me think out side the box and use my dies in a different way.  I like many many others been very obsessed with the alcohol inks lately and went through at least two packs of youpo paper  creating backgrounds.

Below are some of the steps I did to create these cards

One think I really enjoy about the alcohol inks is that even when you use the same colors you never get the same look twice there is always something different about the finished product.

Both cards measure 5½ x4¼

For the backgrounds I used  a mixture of Sunshine yellow, Dandelion, Indigo blue and mermaid, as well as the  gold metallic  mixative. Once the ink dried but left the edges tacky I added gold foil to it.

I had four layers total for these cards three die cut with the feather; two of which were black and then the third was the white layer. The measurements for the layers are as followed, the white layer is 4 7/8 x 3 5/8 the bottom black layer is 4¾ x 3½ and the top layer is 4½ x 3¼

The forth layer of this card is the alcohol ink background

This panel was created using dandelion, mermaid and gold and possibly a green alcohol ink as well.

I took the smaller of the black layers with the feather die cut out of it and used my cosmic gilding polish and applied it all over the card stock. I went a little heavy handed by accident so I took a baby wipe and clean some of it away. I like the effect that created allowing some of the black to peak through. For one of the cards I strictly covered the panel in enchanted gold polish, the second card I mixed in a Ocean blue and hunter green.

As for die cutting and placement, to insure I was able to get the feather in the same place I decided to adhara the bigger black panel on to the white and then pop the die back into the feather space and re run it through . This way I was sure it would all line up and look the same.

I adhered the alcohol ink panel down flat using be creative tape as it is a stronger adhesive. For the mixed colored card I layered all the leaf die cut layers together and then popped it up in the center of the alcohol panel, for the gold card I just adhered everything flat.

I die cut the sentiment 4 times from the new Concord and 9th Fabulous phrases die, twice  in black and twice  in white and then adhered them together slightly off setting it for extra interest.

For a finishing touch I went over the sentiments with  my Tonic Aqua brush just for a little sparkle and shine.

I really am loving how these cards came out and see myself making many more. I really hope you found some inspiration and enjoyed my process post. Please do let me know what you think I am always wanting to do better and make it more interesting for all of you wonderful crafty friends.

I cant wait to see what you create so please come on over and join in on the fun at Cards in Envy

Have a wonderful week.
