Scrap'n Stamp Blog: Merry Magnolia Wreath Card Set
So I pulled out my misti for this card as I new I needed to make many many many cards
( Which was a big fail I only ended up with 5 cards lol )
For the stamping I pulled out my distress oxides in mowed lawn pine needles.
I love love love my distress oxides, I use them so often if you haven't noticed already lol
I stamped the first layer of the wreath using mowed lawn, my idea was to create a faux water colour look, to accomplish this I inked up the stamp and then spritzed with water and stamped. I did this process with the second layer using pine needles distress oxide, some of which turned out great and some so so.
I set the wreaths aside and started working on the rest of the elements for the card.
I created the card bases using some textured red cardstock, base’s measure 4½ x 4½. I then cut down some heavy weight white card stock to 4x4 and finally I cut down the different glitter papers to 4 3/8 x 4 3/8 / once the paper was cut down I moved on to the other elements.
I ran the white cardstock through my big shot using two different embossing folders, one was from We R Memory keepers (which is linked below) the other is from my stash and is retired. To finish up the prep work I die cut the sentiment strips and Merry Sentiment, this took a bit of time as I die cut multiple layers of the sentiment using two different card stocks, red and white. Once all of this prep work was done I went back to the wreaths I had previously stamped out and fussy cut each one of them. Yup you read that right I fussy cut them all out… ( Should have invested in the die )
Once all the cutting was done I went and added some shimmer on to the embossed panels using some Comsic Shimmer gilding polish. I love this stuff.. makes such an impact on the embossed panels, helps pick up all that dimension. Next it was time to assemble, I adhered the glitter paper flat to each of the card bases, I then popped up both the embossed panels and wreaths to each card. This gave it so much dimension and interest.
After that was all adhered I went in an layered each merry three times, two white and then one red – I also off set the red layer to allow some of the white layer to pop through and add some shadow. I then added some nuvo aqua shimmer to the Merry, you can never have to much sparkle.
To finish off the cards I added a little bow with some ribbon, and added some gems to the sentiment strips which had been stamped using a set from my stash. I decided after the fact I would complete the inside of the card repeating the stamping of the wreath with mowed lawn and using a sentiment that was in the magnolia set to tie it all together. Finally I edged the inside panels using some gold delicate ink- just for a little sparkle on the inside of the card.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my little blog, I hope I have inspired you
I wish you all a very Happy and safe Holiday Season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!
