Valentines Card #4 : Card in Envy Challenge "Hearts in Flutter"
Good Afternoon and Happy Family Day to those that celebrate it. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
Today I have a card I made for the "Cards In Envy" card challenge: "Hearts all a Flutter".
I created this using Simon Say Stamps Paper Hugs stamp set for the sentiment and the Penny Black Piece of my heart stamp set for the main images and inside sentiment. The dies used were the scallop hearts and regular heart dies from Darice. As well I used the heart embossing folder from Cuttlebug. As for card stock I used water color paper from the Dollar Store with More, Simon Says Cotton Candy card stock and white card stock from Michael's Craft store. I also used some Lawn Fawn gold lawn trimmings at the bottom of the card.
So I started this card with the back drop and really built the card around that. I used six different colors of distress ink from Tim Holtz to create the splattered background.
The colors I used were picked raspberry, worn lipstick, festive berries, spun sugar, shaded lilac and tattered rose. I then stamped out the cute little hedgehogs using Versa Mark black onyx ink. I colored them both in using Spectrum Noir pencils and blending solution. It was then that I decided how I wanted the rest of the card to come together. So I adhered the layer of water color paper to my card base, which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and then cut out another white base to go on top. I then embossed it and cut out the heart. I stamped the sentiment on to the water colored background using Memento Lux Tuxedo black ink. I then decided i wanted to make it a very shallow shaker card so i added the transparency, and cut out some silver and red hearts from paper scraps I had. I adhered the card together using Scotch foam tape. Finally I finished the card with the pink scallop heart I die cut out of the cotton candy card stock, adhered that and my little hedgehogs down and added the lawn trimmings around the bottom. The final step was to use some Rangers glossy accent to the heart puzzle and little piece.
