Fun with Distress Oxides
In the midsts of playing with all the wonderful colors, I recieved a card order for a birthday card. Well I just knew I had to use one of the backgrounds I created and the Mermazing stamp set from My favorite things
So I just went to town playing with the different color combinatins. I started with Wilterd violet, faded jeans and cracked pistacchio and then added in the deliscous new Peacock Feather to the mix. I have to say that is one of my favorite colors.
For most of the backgrounds above I went to town with the distress spray bottle and some Perfect Pearls to bring is some shimmer. I also brought in a stencil from My Favorite things trying to add some texture and demension. The picture above doe not show all the panels I created. I had done a few more that I have already turned into cards.
This Peackcok feather background is one of my favorites I created. For these pannels I used Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Peacock Feather. Then I used the the technique Jennifer McGuire shared in her video a week or so back, where she sprayed water on stamps and stencils and then pressed them down on her distress oxied bacgrounds which created such beautiful results.
I continued on with a few more color combinations and a fun background stamp also from My Favorite things. With these pannels I uesed Warn Lipstick, Peacock feather and Twisted citron as well as black soot.
I did one pannel just spraying the background stamp with water and then placing it on the pannel. The others I used black soot directly onto the stamp and sprayed with water and pressed it down.
Here is the background I created for my clients card, I used Faded Jeanes, Broken China and Cracked Pistacchio and lots of water.
The card is a standard A2 card base. I used bazzil dark blue card stock for the base and the reef frame.
I die cut the pannel using the My Favorite Things Wonky stitched rectangle die and the ocene die cut was a Hero Arts Reef border die all of which are linked below.
I stamped out the mermaids and rock from the Mermazing stamp set from My Favorite Things, I colored both using my copic markers. (Sadly I forgot to write down the colors I used) I fussy cut the mermaids and rock out as I do not have the coordinating dies.
I stamped the sentiment from the Mama Elephant Make a Wish stamp set using Simon Say Intense black in and my misti tool. I chose to use my misti tool as I was stamping on textured paper and wanted to make sure I got a clean crisp impression. I popped the frame up with foam tape as well as part of the mermaid and rock. For finishing touches I added some sparkling sequins from Pretty Pink Posh as well as some Moonshine sequins from Simon Say Stamps
For the inside of the card I used a sentiment from the Little Darling Mermaid set from Your Next Stamp. I also took some of the distress oxides and stamped the coral, seaweed and shells on to the inside of the card just to finish it all off.
I really hope you enjoyed my card creation and some of my backgrounds.
