Lasting Hearts Card Drive and Brain Buddies Card Drive

Hello crafty friends, Hope you are all having a spectacular week so far and had a wonderful Valentines Day.
I wanted to share with you a couple of card drives that are going on through the United States. One is something Jennifer McGuire Ink shared and the other is one that was featured in the Card Maker Magazine. Both really great causes and both of which have some significance in my life as well as thought that I have known.

The first card drive is the Lasting hearts card drive  which Jennifer McGuire has posted on her blog a few weeks back. This touched my heart so much.that i just knew i had to take part in it The card drive is  to help support those that have  lost their babies.  The hand made card will be given with a special book. For more information please check out Jennifer McGuire's blog

Here are a couple of cards I created especially for the Lasting Hearts card drive.

To create this set of cards I used Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle dies for the two white layers of card stock, For the layered scalloped background I used the Wplus9 Sunshine Layer die set. I embossed the largest Rectangle using the Large Damask Flourish embossing folder from Couture Creations. The sentiment on the from was from the Winnie & Walter The big the bold and the friends sentiment stamp set. The Inside sentiment is from the Prayers stamp set from Simon Says Stamps. The flowers were stamped out from the Altenew Lacy Scrolls stamp set using Simon Says Stamp Doll Pink Ink and Hydrangea ink. To Finish it off I added on two of the cards some Pretty Pink Posh and Simon Says Stamp sequins.

For these three cards I tried to keep it a bit more simple. For the two lower ones I embossed each of the background layers using a butterfly folder from Darice and the Extra confetti embossing folder from Couture Creations. I layered one of them on Silver Recollections Paper and then on to the card base i created using Simon Says Sea Glass card stock. The other was directly added to the card base, using the same card stock. I stamped the Floras from a Penny Black stamp and colored it in using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, and then die cut each of them out using two different die sets, The largest oval and the smallest oval were die cut using the Simon Says Stamp Stitched oval die set, and the medium oval was die cut using the Avery Elle Sweet Scallop die set. The sentiment it self is again from the Simon Say Stamp Prayers set and I embossed it on vellum using Rangers detail white embossing powder.

The next card drive I hope to part take in was something I read about in the latest issue of  CardMaker magazine on page 8. The charity is Grey Matter Foundation its a support for children and adults  that have had brain tumors. those that are going through it and as well as their families.  This particular charity really pulled at  my heart strings and hit close to home as I lost my dad to a brain tumor almost 8 years ago. My life was changed the day my dad got diagnosed and then again when he passed. Even thought he was the one diagnosed and when through everything he was a pillar of strength and hope for all of us around him So if I can do anything to help someone else find a smile or some hope then I know I need to be apart of it.

The foundation is looking for both masculine and feminine cards  for both children and adults. Themes should include, Thank You, Birthday, Anniversary cards to celebrate life after treatment, as well as Blank cards.
